Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and Galaxy Note 10.1 dragged unto lawsuit by Apple

And the Apple-Samsung war continues…

This time Bloomberg reports that Apple is aiming to add Samsung’s latest tablet, The Galaxy Note 10.1 and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to the list of products it claims infringe its patent. Apple claims that the Jelly Bean update is the version of Google’s Android OS which was incorporated in the Note and hence deserved to face trial.

Really? Looks like Apple has forgotten that as recent as October Judge Lucy Koh rescinded an injunction against the Galaxy Tab 10.1, the earlier 10 inch tablet from Samsung, in the same court in California in which the current case has been filed.

Samsung in return has expressed its intent to include iPhone5 in its own infringement claims in the same proceedings. Not long ago Apple won a preliminary case against Samsung which blocked the sale of Galaxy Nexus in the US. Perhaps, this is why they feel more confident while dragging the Galaxy Note 10.1 to court.

The trial date has been set for sometime in 2014. For any judgment resulting from these proceedings to have any effect on the products listed, they need to be current products. If the past year is any measure to go by, the stream of new launches will ensure that both parties will add more devices to the current list.
