Android 4.1.2 OTA Update for Galaxy Nexus and Nexus rolling out now

Android 4.1.2 was just rolled out to the Nexus 7 a few days ago, and it looks like Google has decided to also make it available for the GSM versions of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, as well as its predecessor the Samsung Nexus S. While we had already written a guide on how you could manually update the Galaxy Nexus to 4.1.2, and some of you may have actually upgraded your devices actually, those who haven’t can do so now.

Our pals over at Engadget, have started receiving multiple reports from GSM Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S owners, that they have started receiving OTA updates for the next version of Jelly Bean. Other non-GSM based users of both  Nexus phones can also expect to get the bump-up to Android 4.1.2, but for now only the GSM based devices are getting some Google joy.

Android 4.1.2 is a minor improvement update to Android 4.1.1, and other than some performance and stability improvements and fixes, there really isn’t anything notable in terms of new features. But the beauty of owning a Nexus device is that you get the update to the latest version of the OS much, much before other Droids do. Once a Nexus, always a Nexus.
