Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update for Motorola Droid 4 Rollout promised from March 19

Yet another smartphone from Motorola is on its way to be updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean this month – Verizon has announced that the much-anticipated update will start rolling out in phases to the Droid 4 from today, March 19th.

With the Android 4.1 update, Droid 4 owners will finally get access to new and useful features like Google Now, actionable and expandable notifications, smarter keyboard, smoother animations and transitions due to Project Butter enhancements, and many other under the hood improvements.

Motorola has also added quite a few changes of its own, including improved voice and data connectivity, improved reliability of its Back Up Assistant Plus and Visual Voicemail apps, and a few enhancements in the calendar as well as mobile hotspot connectivity. The Sling and MOG apps that came pre-loaded on the device have been removed.

The Jelly Bean update will update your Droid 4 to software version 98.72.18 and you should see a notification of its availability in the coming days. Once the update becomes available, we’ll be making a manual update guide as well, so stay tuned.

Excited about the incoming jelly beans?
