Google has already come out with the Android M Developer Preview. Now, Amazon has come up with its Fire OS Developer Preview. It was on Friday that the firm announced its OS that is based on the Lollipop codebase.

If you are a developer, you can try the Fire OS Developer Preview. On the other hand, if you a customer with an Amazon device, you will definitely have to wait till the firm official releases this iteration. It is likely that this iteration will go official later this year.

Amazon has used the Android Lollipop iteration only now as a base for its forked iteration of the Fire OS.

This should not be surprising as the update to the Fire OS that used the code of KitKat as its base went to the other devices in early May. This makes it clear that the Fire OS 5 update will be based on Lollipop, but at that time Google would have released the upcoming Android M iteration.

The Fire OS 5 Developer Preview can be installed on Aamzon’s Fire HD 6 and Fire HD 7 tablets. Those who are waiting to buy an Amazon tablet can do so right now as the firm is providing a discount of $50 on the Fire HD 7. Anyways, you will have to be a registered developer to be eligible to avail this deal.
